Lunar and Søren Kyhl part ways
Søren Kyhl is stepping down from his position as CEO of Lunar. Lunar's Board has appointed Gitte Roskaer and Robert Stambro, COO and CFO of Lunar respectively, to jointly take on the role of acting CEO of Lunar, while the Board continues its ongoing work to find a permanent CEO.
Søren Kyhl is stepping down from his position as CEO of Lunar on September 30, 2026.
"Søren Kyhl has decided to resign from his position at Lunar and pursue new challenges. We respect Søren's decision, and the Board agrees with Søren's own thinking that he is not the right leadership profile for Lunar over the long run. I would like to thank Søren for his efforts and contribution to Lunar, and for bringing his experience and fresh perspectives into play — among other things, he has spent the past months, together with the rest of the management team, preparing the next phase of Lunar's growth journey. I wish him all the best going forward," says Jens Peter Leschly Neergaard, Chairman of the Board of Lunar.
"I have great respect for Lunar, its many talented employees, and the position Lunar has built in the Nordics. The past few months have given me valuable insight into the opportunities ahead for Lunar, and I'm pleased with the work we have set in motion together, including the plan and direction for the coming year alongside the rest of the management team and Lunar's Board. At the same time, that work has given me greater clarity on Lunar's next phase. After careful consideration, it has become clear to me that the next phase calls for a different leadership profile, and that my experience and strengths can be put to fuller use in a different context. That is why I have chosen to resign from my position, and I wish the entire organization all the best in the next phase," says Søren Kyhl.
Strategy continues Jens Peter Leschly Neergaard emphasizes that Lunar's strategy of building the leading Nordic challenger bank remains unchanged.
"Lunar continues its work to develop the business and capitalize on the momentum we see for Lunar, driven by the strong and experienced team at Lunar. We will continue to grow, while strengthening our foundation and expanding with new products for Lunar's growing customer base."
Gitte Roskaer and Robert Stambro, COO and CFO of Lunar respectively, will jointly take on the role of acting CEO of Lunar.
"I'm pleased that Gitte and Robert are jointly taking on the role of acting co-CEOs until we have found a new permanent CEO. Both are experienced leaders at Lunar, know the business inside and out, and have played a central role in shaping the strategy. I'm confident they are exactly the right people to lead Lunar forward and execute on the strategy, and they have the Board's full support," says Jens Peter Leschly Neergaard.
The Board continues its ongoing work to find a permanent CEO for Lunar.
