Committed to Accessibility: Making Banking Easier for Everyone
Date of last update: 4 July 2025
At Lunar Bank, we believe that everyone should have seamless access to their banking services. Our goal is to create an inclusive and accessible digital experience for all our customers. We are dedicated to meeting the accessibility standards, including those set by the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and ETSI EN 301 549 V3.2.1, which incorporate the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.1 Level AA).
Our Ongoing Commitment
Accessibility is at the heart of our design and development process. We continuously work to ensure our services are easy to use for everyone by:
- Regular Reviews: We conduct frequent accessibility audits of our digital platforms, including our mobile app and website, to identify and address any potential barriers.
- Continuous Improvement: We integrate accessibility directly into our design and development, providing specialized training for our teams and incorporating user feedback, including insights from individuals with disabilities, to refine our services.
- Transparent Reporting: We maintain detailed documentation of our accessibility features and progress.
Our Journey Towards Full Compliance
We are actively working towards full compliance with the European Accessibility Act. New features and services launched are designed with accessibility in mind from day one. For our existing platforms, we are committed to achieving full compliance by June 28, 2030, through a phased approach that ensures continuous improvement.
Known Limitations
While we strive for full accessibility, certain functionalities currently have technical limitations or are considered an undue burden. These include:
For the Lunar mobile app and the web-bank:
- Timing Adjustable (WCAG 2.0 Level A 2.2.1): All time-based functionality is real-time and cannot be prolonged due to sub-system security limitations across all Lunar Apps.
- Orientation (WCAG 2.1 Level A 1.3.4): The app is currently locked to portrait mode in Lunar App (iOS) and Lunar App (Android) due to disproportionate changes based on cost and benefit.
- Non-text Content (WCAG 2.0 Level A 1.1.1): Some controls and clickable images lack text descriptions, decorative images are not consistently hidden, full card information is not readable, and graphs/charts lack textual representations.
- Keyboard (WCAG 2.0 Level A 2.1.1): Custom keyboards for amount/PIN input in the Android app do not support device/hardware input.
- Pointer Gestures (WCAG 2.1 Level A 2.5.1): The contextual AI Assistant gesture is currently only available with two-finger gestures, which may interfere with other gestures.
- Status Messages (WCAG 2.1 Level AA 4.1.3): Not fully supported in Lunar App.
For the Lunar webpage:
- Video Accessibility: We are working on providing comprehensive captions and audio descriptions for our videos, especially those that convey important information.
- Semantic Structure: We are reviewing and optimizing the underlying structure of our website (headings, lists, and landmarks) to enhance compatibility with assistive technologies.
- Assistive Technology Compatibility: We are actively refining our website's compatibility with various assistive technologies, including specific menu and link behaviors, to ensure a seamless experience.
We are dedicated to continuously re-evaluating potential solutions and technological advancements to address these considerations and ensure an accessible experience for all users in the future.
